As we gear up for this exciting event, the BadgeTour team is putting the final touches on our international training event hosted by Oulu University of Applied sciences between the 9th and the 11th of May 2023. We’re thrilled to be bringing together teachers and trainers from across the VET tourism sector to collaborate on this innovative project.

During the training event, we’ll be exploring strategies for effectively implementing microcredentialing in tourism courses with VET teachers/trainers coming from Italy, Spain, Portugal and Turkey. With a focus on identifying and validating competencies, our goal is to create a course programme that can be replicated across industries and borders, following the EU Council recommendations for micro-credentials. As Europe’s tourism rebound is predicted to continue into 2023, micro-credentials are an ally for matching skills gap and rising employabilty among youths, especially when it comes to integrate sustainability practices from the economic, social and environmental point of view ( see the UNWTO Tourism Education Guidelines).

The goal of this international event is creating a pool of qualified managers and VET trainers in the tourism sector able to use and transfer the BadgeTour results. This is why at the end of the training, we’ll be compiling a detailed report outlining our findings and recommendations for implementing the BadgeTour results, from the Microcredentialing Guidelines (R1) to the Toolkit (R2) comprising the online course and training path (R3).

We’re excited to be working with such a talented group of professionals and are confident that this training event will be a success. Stay tuned for updates as we move closer to the BadgeTour International training event in Finland!
